Websites designed around the businesses behind them.

PORTFOLIO

No signature style. No one-size-fits-all approach.
Each website is shaped around the brand, the audience and the feeling it needs to create.

A minimalist interior with beige-toned stone walls and flooring, a large arched window overlooking water and mountains, a large potted plant, a black vase on a niche, a curved wooden chair, and a bench with a black shallow bowl.

Casa Moja Kenya

LUXURY RETREATS KENYA

Create a website that captures the feeling of Casa Moja - bringing together a private home on the Indian Ocean, food tailored to you, a story, and a collection of intimate retreat experiences between ocean and wilderness.

THE PROJECT

Rather than approaching Casa Moja as a traditional hospitality website, I designed the experience around its different worlds. The House, The Table and The Intervals create a simple structure for exploring the home, its food and its carefully curated journeys, while immersive imagery, generous space and a restrained visual direction allow the feeling of each experience to lead.

Safe to Speak

ONLINE PUBLICATION

Dr David Naylor approached me with Safe to Speak, a book exploring why people can find it difficult to speak up, how people and workplaces cultures can silence voices, and what can help make conversations safer. He wanted to take those ideas beyond the printed page and create an online publication, but wasn’t yet sure what that should look like or how it should work.

THE PROJECT

Through thoughtful conversations and several design iterations, we explored how the book could translate into an engaging digital experience. The final Squarespace website was designed to feel interactive and informative without becoming overwhelming, giving readers space to explore the ideas and reflect on them at their own pace.

Catherine Hills Jewellery

BESPOKE JEWELLERY

Catherine already had an established website, but after many years it was beginning to feel outdated and had become difficult for her to manage and update herself. Rather than trying to work around limitations of the existing site, we decided to start again - creating a new home for her beautiful bespoke jewellery on Shopify.

THE PROJECT

Catherine’s existing content was carefully migrated and rebuilt within a more luxurious, easy-to-manage Shopify store. I set up the product catalogue and collections, developed her story and content pages, and connected her social media and email marketing - taking care of the details behind the scenes as well as the design itself.

The result is a website that showcases Catherine’s work beautifully while giving her far more control over the day-to-day running off her online store.

THE APPROACH

SHOPIFY · E-COMMERCE · WEBSITE REDESIGN

I continue to support Catherine on an ad-hoc basis whenever she needs a hand.

“Laura rebuilt my website a few years ago as my original one was no longer working for me. I also needed to have an e-commerce platform to sell my jewellery. I have a particular visual aesthetic / brand identity and I wanted to show this at its best.
Laura was perfect, she easily understood what I wanted, was patient and positive and created a website exactly how I envisioned.

As a designer and artist, I was looking for someone that was not going to tell me what I should have but help me create my vision I already had for my website.

I was fortunate to be recommend Laura, who is professional, confident, capable and so nice to deal with. Since it went live 5 years ago she always made herself available for advice, help with updates or changes.

Thanks to Laura I have also become confident enough to make changes to the site myself when I can. She does a really great job and her charges are really reasonable.”

KIND WORDS

TT Luxury Cat Towers

Luxury Cat Furniture

Sam and her team already had a completely custom-built website, but despite significant investment, they had very little control over it themselves. Even simple changes required developer support and, as their needs evolved, the website was no longer giving the business the flexibility it needed.

We knew that rather than trying to adapt what was already there, the best solution was to start again - this time with ease of management at the heart of the project.

THE PROJECT

Using shopify, we created a polished e-commerce website that showcased their luxury cat towers, told the story behind Sam’s family business and brought their full product collection online. Social media and email marketing integrated too, creating a much more connected platform for the business to grow from.

More importantly, the new website gave the team control. They can continue to update products, collections, homepage, landing pages and content themselves, without relying on a developer every time something needs a change.

THE APPROACH

SHOPIFY · E-COMMERCE · WEBSITE REDESIGN

Following launch, I also supported the business with email marketing and product / sale campaigns on a monthly retainer.

Bespoke Bridal Hair

BRIDAL HAIR STYLING

Bespoke Bridal Hair was one of the first projects I worked on after launching a web design business during lockdown. We ran a competition offering a local small business a website free of charge, and Nicola - a talented bridal hairstylist with beautiful work to showcase but no website of her own - was our winner.

Nicola already had incredible imagery and the words to tell her story. What she needed was somewhere to bring it all together.

THE PROJECT

I created a simple, elegant Squarespace website that puts Nicola’s work at the centre, giving prospective brides an easy way to explore her services, see her portfolio and get in touch.

Years later, the website is still supporting her business. Nicola has told me it helped improve her visibility and bring in more enquiries - making this one of those projects that’s always been particularly lovely to look back on.
