Terms & Conditions
Last updated: September 2026
These Terms & Conditions explain the terms that apply when you use the By Laura Georgewill website and, where applicable, purchase services from me.
Specific website design projects may also be governed by a separate proposal, quotation, scope of work or client agreement. Where project-specific terms have been agreed, those terms should be read alongside these website terms.

Website information
I take reasonable care to ensure the information on this website is accurate and up to date. However, website content is provided for general information and may be changed without notice.
Nothing on this website guarantees that a particular service, price, timeline or project slot will always be available.
Website design services
The exact scope of a website project will be agreed before work begins.
Depending on the project, services may include website strategy, design, development/build, responsive optimisation, basic search-engine optimisation, forms, domain connection, visual guidance, training and launch support.
Anything not included within the agreed project scope may be quoted separately.
Client responsibilities
For a project to run smoothly, clients are responsible for providing requested information, feedback, approvals, website copy, imagery, logins and other required materials within agreed timescales unless I have agreed to provide them.
Delays in receiving these materials may affect the project schedule and launch date.
Where a significant delay occurs, I may need to reschedule the project according to my availability.
Content supplied by clients
You are responsible for ensuring that any text, photographs, logos, fonts, videos, graphics or other materials you provide for use on your website are owned by you or that you have permission to use them.
I cannot be responsible for copyright, trademark, licensing or other claims arising from materials supplied by a client.
Payments
Prices and payment schedules will be confirmed before a project begins.
Where a deposit or initial payment is required to secure a project, work will not normally begin until that payment has been received.
Remaining balances must be paid according to the agreed payment schedule.
Additional work outside the original project scope may incur an additional charge, which will be discussed before that work is carried out.
Revisions
The number and nature of revisions included in a project will be explained in the relevant proposal or project agreement.
Revisions are intended to refine the agreed design direction. Significant changes to the original brief, additional pages, functionality or a substantially different creative direction may be treated as additional work.
Timelines
Any project timeline given is an estimate based on the information available at the time.
I will make reasonable efforts to meet agreed deadlines, but timelines may need to change because of client delays, third-party services, technical issues or circumstances outside my reasonable control.
Squarespace, Shopify and third-party services
I design websites using third-party platforms and services, including Squarespace and Shopify where appropriate.
These companies operate independently from By Laura Georgewill and have their own terms, pricing, policies and technical systems.
You are responsible for ongoing charges associated with your website unless otherwise agreed. These may include website-platform subscriptions, domain renewals, email services, apps, plugins or other third-party services.
I cannot guarantee that a third-party platform will always operate without interruption or that its functionality, pricing or policies will remain unchanged.
Domains and third-party accounts
Unless agreed otherwise, domain names, Squarespace or Shopify accounts and other core business accounts should ultimately be registered to and controlled by the client.
Clients are responsible for maintaining subscriptions, renewals, passwords and payment information once a project has been handed over.
Website launch and ongoing maintenance
Before launch, you will have the opportunity to review and approve your website.
Once a website has been approved and launched, ongoing changes, maintenance or support are not automatically included unless specifically stated in your package or agreed separately.
I design websites with usability in mind and aim to give clients the ability to manage ordinary website content themselves wherever reasonably possible.
Search engine optimisation
Where basic SEO is included, I will follow reasonable on-page optimisation practices.
However, I cannot guarantee specific rankings, traffic levels, enquiries, sales or other search-engine results. Search engines use systems and algorithms outside my control.
Results
A well-designed website can support your business, but I cannot guarantee particular commercial outcomes.
By Laura Georgewill does not guarantee specific levels of website traffic, enquiries, sales, revenue, conversions or business growth resulting from a website or related service.
Intellectual property
You retain ownership of materials you supplied to me.
Once the project has been paid for in full, you will receive the rights to the final bespoke website design and deliverables as set out in your individual project agreement, excluding third-party materials, software, platform components, licensed assets, fonts and any tools or reusable elements that are subject to separate licences or ownership.
Unless we agree otherwise in writing, I may display completed work in my portfolio, website and social media for the purpose of showing examples of my work.
This section is one I’d eventually make more detailed in your actual client contract, particularly around ownership of custom CSS/code and reusable design systems.
Cancellations and refunds
Cancellation terms for bespoke projects will be set out in your individual proposal or client agreement.
Because project time is reserved in advance and work may begin before a final website is delivered, payments already made may not always be refundable.
Any statutory cancellation rights that apply to you will not be affected by these terms.
Important: I deliberately wouldn’t put something like “all deposits are non-refundable in all circumstances” here. If you sell services or future downloadable templates to consumers, UK distance-selling rules can create cancellation rights, and digital downloads have additional requirements before a customer can lose the 14-day cancellation right.
DIY templates and digital products
When Squarespace templates or other digital products become available, additional terms may apply to those purchases, including licence restrictions.
Unless a product expressly says otherwise, purchasing a template will give the purchaser a licence to use that template for their own website and will not transfer ownership of the underlying template design or permit its resale, redistribution or reproduction for other clients.
I would expand this section when you actually launch your templates, because your template licence needs to be much more specific.
Liability
I will provide my services with reasonable care and skill.
However, to the fullest extent permitted by law, I will not be responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside my reasonable control, third-party platforms or services, changes made to a website after handover by the client or another party, or the client’s failure to maintain subscriptions, accounts, software or security.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
Links to other websites
This website may contain links to third-party websites.
I am not responsible for the content, security, availability or privacy practices of websites operated by other organisations.
Changes to these terms
I may update these Terms & Conditions occasionally as my services develop.
The version displayed on this website will show the date it was last updated.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the applicable jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply.
